ILS Approach and Crosswind Landing in Sumburgh
ILS Approach which ended in 18 knot crosswind landing in Sumburgh, Shetland. The third flight in my new Cessna 182.
Add-ons
I flew Cessna 182 created by A2A Simulations. The scenery is Sumburgh Airport (EGPB) by ORBX (read my 5-star review here). It is the only ORBX airport for FTX Scotland scenery.
Other add-ons that I used for this video:
- EZdok camera – Flight1
- REX 4 TD with Soft Clouds
- DX10 Fixer
Approach
The weather was bad with broken clouds reported at 600 feet. I was fortunate to fly through a hole in cloud cover and I saw the airport from 3,5 miles out. Due to reported clouds I chose ILS approach to runway 27 – the only approach in Sumburgh that allowed for a descent below 600ft. 27 meant battling 18 knot crosswind at the time of my landing.
