A short flight over Swiss Alps. From Samedan (LSZS) to Bad Ragaz (LSZE) in Cessna 172 (A2A Simulations). A movie.
First from Samedan to S-Chanf, then along valleys (Susauna and Funtauna) to Sertigpass and then descending towards Davos and Klosters.
From Klosters, around the peak of Weissfluh into the valley leading to Chur and then to the west – to admire the Rhein Gorge. Landing in Bad Ragaz.
I planned a flight along a route that was familiar to me – I visited this places on foot or by car a few years ago and I was curious how they look from above.
As to the navigation – it is a pilotage in the purest form. I do not remember looking at the compass even once – I simply followed the terrain features which lead me from one point to the other.
I like such flights. They give me the opportunity to enjoy the scenery and somehow “connect” with the place I fly over. Towns and cities below me become “real” rather than being just a dots on my GPS or sets of coordinates.
